Residents in Banbury, Oxfordshire, will experience an unusually warm day on February 25, 2026, as temperatures reach 15°C to provide a brief break from recent winter storms. According to the Met Office, the area will see sunny intervals and light winds throughout the day. This shift in weather is expected to make outdoor tasks and the school run easier for local families by reducing the risk of morning frost.

This forecast high is roughly double the typical temperature for this time of year in the region. Data from Weather Spark shows that average highs usually stay between 7°C and 8°C during February. While Banbury hits 15°C, other parts of the region could see temperatures as high as 18°C, which would match the historical February record for nearby Oxford, according to Weather and Climate.

The mild conditions are being driven by a temporary change in wind direction that is pulling warmer air from the south-west over the British Isles. Despite the dry and sunny forecast for Wednesday, flood warnings remain in effect across England following a period of persistent heavy rainfall throughout early 2026. The Met Office notes that these warnings are still active and residents should remain aware of local water levels.

The spring-like weather is expected to be short-lived as wetter and windier conditions return to the area later in the week. By February 27, 2026, the chance of rain increases to 80 per cent with wind gusts expected to reach between 32mph and 34mph. The Met Office predicts that the weather will become cooler with showers continuing into the weekend across Oxfordshire.
