Thames Valley Police have increased foot and vehicle patrols across Banbury, Oxfordshire, as of 5 February 2026, following a series of sexual-assault enquiries. This visible response began in early February to help residents feel safer and to support ongoing police investigations.
People will see more officers in the town centre, the High Street, Bridge Street and near the train station. Thames Valley Police say these extra patrols are intended to reassure the public and to encourage anyone with information to come forward.
These investigations follow a series of reports made in late 2025 and early 2026. Local data from CrimeRate.co.uk shows that violence and sexual offences were the most frequent crime category in Banbury in 2025, with 2,344 offences recorded during the year.
Local residents and community groups have also raised concerns about street lighting and safety in Banbury — including People’s Park — in local coverage and on social media. Anyone who can help with the current enquiries is asked to contact Thames Valley Police (call 101 or report online) or check for updates on Thames Valley Alert.
