Cherwell District Council has sold its former Bodicote House office site in Bodicote, Oxfordshire, to a housing developer to make way for new homes. The sale, which was confirmed on 16 March 2026, sees the property transferred to the Graven Hill Village Development Company.

While the Cherwell District Council owns the Bicester-based developer, the firm is managed as an independent business. It has its own leadership team and uses its own funding to buy the land and handle the building work.

Bodicote House has been empty since the council moved its main headquarters to the Castle Quay centre in 2025. Officials chose this developer to ensure the project provides good value for taxpayers while meeting the local need for more houses in the village.

Building work on the new housing project could start in 2027 if the upcoming planning applications are approved. This timeline would mean the first residents could potentially move into their new homes by 2028.
