Jeremy Corbyn, the Independent MP for Islington North, will visit Banbury, Oxfordshire, on Monday 9 February 2026 to hold a public discussion and question-and-answer session. The meeting will take place at the Banbury Chestnuts Bowling Club on West Bar (The Shades, OX16 9RS), where residents are invited to talk about local concerns such as housing and health services. Doors are expected to open at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start.
The event is part of a tour for Your Party, a new political group launched in July 2025 by Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana that grew out of an earlier grouping of independent MPs. Organisers say they want to give people a direct voice in politics and hear from the community ahead of the May 2026 local elections.
This new group grew out of the Independent Alliance, a collection of independent members of Parliament who joined together after the 2024 general election. The visit is being presented as a challenge to the local Labour incumbent, Sean Woodcock, who has held the Banbury seat since the July 2024 general election.
While the meeting focuses on community issues, Your Party has recently faced questions about its internal governance. Reporting in The Guardian and other outlets says there is an ongoing dispute between party founders over control of membership donations worth roughly £800,000, funds that were collected via a company set up during the party’s formation.
The Banbury Chestnuts Bowling Club is a historic venue in the town — the club’s website states it was established in 1780 — and is located just behind the site of the former Labour Club on West Bar.
