A free family event returns to People’s Park when Banbury Town Council hosts the Town Mayor’s Funday on Sunday 19 July 2026, running from 11:30am until 4:30pm. The event will feature rock climbing, crazy golf, face painting, balloon modelling, land train rides, live music, food stalls, and stunt shows.

Dangerous Steve brings more than three decades of outdoor entertainment to the main arena, having begun his career at six years old billed as ‘The World’s Youngest Motorcycle Stunt Rider’. His act includes quad bike stunts, blindfold motorbike jumps, and a unique monowheel roll-over, a trick he says no one else performs.

Last year’s event attracted hundreds of families on 13 July despite Mayor Kieron Mallon being unable to attend. Deputy Mayor Dr Chukwudi Okeke stepped in to open proceedings and toured the stalls, a pattern likely to repeat this year. Lennie the Land Train, free climbing walls, and mini golf were among the hit attractions in 2025, and similar favourites are set to return alongside Banbury Music Mix Radio providing artists.

The park, established in 1897 and spanning roughly eight acres off Warwick Road, sits in the town centre close to St Mary’s Church. Maintained by the town council, it has no entry fee for the Funday, keeping all activities open to residents of any age.
