Residents in Basildon, Essex, should prepare for blustery conditions on 26 February 2026 as the Met Office forecasts wind gusts of up to 34mph. The strongest winds are expected to hit the town during the early afternoon, specifically between 1pm and 3pm, which may affect the school run and early evening travel.

According to the Met Office, daytime temperatures will reach a high of 14°C, but wind chill will make it feel more like 10°C for those outdoors. Drivers of high-sided vehicles and people with loose garden items are encouraged to take precautions during the peak of the wind.

Rain is predicted to move into the area late tonight, with a 70 per cent chance of rainfall by 11pm. Commuters using the c2c rail line, which has been managed by the government-owned DfT Operator since July 2025, should stay alert for any weather-related updates to their journeys.

Local activities are still expected to take place, including a monthly meet-up at 360 Play and a Launch-It business workshop starting at 6pm. Residents are advised to factor in extra travel time for their evening plans as the weather is expected to become wetter after sunset.
