Basildon in Essex is set to experience heavy rain and strong winds on Friday, February 20, 2026, as a weather system moves through the region. According to the Met Office, a band of rain will arrive from the west mid-morning, with the highest chance of downpours expected around midday.
Forecasters predict the chance of rain will reach at least 95 per cent by 12:00 PM, while wind gusts are expected to peak at 34 miles per hour shortly after. The Environment Agency confirmed that flood warnings were already in place for parts of England as of Thursday evening.

Temperatures will turn milder during the day, reaching a maximum of 12 degrees Celsius compared to a low of 2 degrees the previous night. Essex County Council, the lead local flood authority, monitors local safety and potential water issues on roads which can be impacted by sudden heavy rainfall.
