Residents in Basingstoke should prepare for a blustery and damp weekend as a weather system known as Storm Dave passes through the UK. While northern parts of the country are facing severe gales, Hampshire will see much milder conditions with no weather warnings currently in force for the area.

Saturday is set to be an overcast day with temperatures ranging from 9C to 15C. The Met Office warns that wind speeds will pick up as the day progresses, with gusts expected to reach 41mph by 10pm. Light rain is also likely, particularly late in the evening with a 60 per cent chance of showers by 11pm.

Conditions will improve on Sunday, bringing a shift toward sunny intervals and calmer winds, though gusts may still reach 39mph. Temperatures will be cooler, between 5C and 12C, dropping to a minimum of 1C overnight. Those sensitive to allergens should take note that pollen levels are expected to be high on Saturday and very high throughout Sunday.

The Environment Agency has confirmed that the flood risk for the Basingstoke area remains very low for the next five days. Looking ahead, residents can expect more settled weather by Easter Monday, which is forecast to be the driest day of the weekend as high pressure moves into the region.
