Festival Place has installed three dual electric vehicle charging points on Level 5 of its car park, creating six sockets for drivers. The 22kW AC fast chargers are now live through the Roam network, with typical charging times of two to six hours aimed at visitors spending time at the centre’s shops, restaurants or cinema.
Payment can be made by app or contactless, and drivers can check live availability and pricing through Zapmap and Electroverse. The installation is the first phase of a planned wider rollout at the Basingstoke shopping centre.
Roam, which operates the chargers, focuses on destination charging at places where people park for longer periods. The firm raised £65 million in late 2025 and has around 3,000 charging points across the UK, backed by Denham Capital and the National Wealth Fund. More details on the new chargers are on the Festival Place website.
