A new Mexican restaurant is set to open its doors in Basingstoke this month at the Festival Place shopping centre. The arrival of Zambrero marks a significant step in the chain’s UK expansion.
The new restaurant is being opened by local franchise partner Sumin Lohani. Having lived in Basingstoke for 15 years and previously worked as an operations manager at a local hotel, Lohani joined the brand in 2025. He also serves as a development agent tasked with expanding the restaurant group across Hampshire, Berkshire, and the Isle of Wight.
Festival Place Centre Director Vicky Hickson welcomed the arrival of the chain to the shopping centre. She described the new restaurant as an exciting addition to the existing food and beverage offerings currently available to visitors.
The company distinguishes itself through a humanitarian effort known as the Plate 4 Plate initiative. Through this programme, the restaurant donates a nutritious meal to someone in need via their distribution partner, Rise Against Hunger, for every burrito or bowl sold. Since its founding, the global initiative has donated over 100 million meals.
