An 18-year-old man from Basingstoke has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary following an incident on Dankworth Road in Hampshire on 12 March 2026. The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary were called to the scene at 12:29 pm after receiving reports that a firearm had been used and windows were damaged at a home.
While investigating the property, officers found that no one at the address had been injured during the disturbance. However, a man was later located at a different address with a minor injury to his hand.
The teenager remains in police custody while officers continue their enquiries in the Basingstoke area. Police officers are currently looking through CCTV footage and carrying out house-to-house visits to speak with neighbours who may have seen what happened.
Chief Inspector Hayley O’Grady said the event is being treated as an isolated incident with no identified risk to the wider public. Local residents may see more officers in the area while specialist teams carry out their patrols and continue their investigation.
