A 51-year-old man from Beeston is due to appear in court after being charged with stealing charity collection boxes from a local mosque and a supermarket. Jorge Inacio, of Abbey Road, faces two counts of theft following incidents that took place in March 2026.
The first collection box was taken from the Taybah Masjid mosque on Victory Road on 21 March. A second theft occurred at a supermarket in Beeston at approximately 8:15am on 23 March.
Inacio was charged on 12 April and has been released on bail. He is expected to attend his hearing at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday 1 May 2026.
These incidents have been monitored as part of ongoing efforts to protect community organisations in the area. The South Nottinghamshire Community Safety Partnership, which includes Broxtowe Borough Council and local police, continues to work to address crimes that impact faith-based institutions and local businesses that rely on public donations.
