The Environment Agency has issued five flood alerts for Beeston and the wider Nottinghamshire area on 6 February 2026 after heavy rain caused river levels to rise. The alerts mean flooding is possible on low-lying land, agricultural fields and riverside paths along the River Trent and the River Erewash.
While no properties have been flooded so far, the alerts cover several locations including Beeston Rylands, the caravan park at Beeston Marina, and paths near Beeston Lock. Water levels are also high near the Tottle Brook and on adjacent agricultural land.
Agency staff are monitoring the Nottingham Left Bank flood defences (part of the Nottingham Left Bank Flood Risk Management Scheme, completed in 2012), and the Canal & River Trust is watching Beeston Canal gates to help prevent canal water spilling into the town.
The Environment Agency has advised residents to avoid riverside footpaths and to move any livestock or equipment away from the water’s edge. Experts expect river levels to peak between 24 and 48 hours after the alerts were issued because roughly 30–45mm of rain has fallen on already saturated ground.
