Nottinghamshire County Council has announced it will spend up to £2 million on emergency road repairs at 35 locations across the county, including a priority project in Beeston, Nottinghamshire. The funding will target dangerous potholes and badly damaged road surfaces that need fixing immediately to keep road users safe.
In Beeston, workers will carry out intensive resurfacing on Hassocks Lane, covering approximately 1,000 square metres of the road surface. Nottinghamshire County Council intends to use a permanent fix approach to ensure the new surfaces last longer and reduce the need for future maintenance.
Councillor Bert Bingham officially approved the list of priority sites on 26 February 2026. The money for these urgent works comes from efficiency savings and unspent funds found within the council’s existing highways budget for the 2025-2026 year.
The repairs will be delivered by Via East Midlands, which acts as the council’s engineering partner. While residents may face short-term traffic disruption and temporary road closures during the works, the improvements are expected to lead to safer journeys and fewer vehicle repair bills for local drivers.
