Nottinghamshire County Council and Broxtowe Borough Council have set out final-stage plans to repurpose former educational sites in and around Beeston into homes and community buildings. The proposals emphasise community-led uses, including dementia‑friendly housing, public‑sector service hubs and new green spaces, and the councils are seeking resident feedback on how the land should be used.

Broxtowe Borough Council is completing the final phase of the Beeston Square redevelopment, which includes the new student block Beckton House. The Beckton House development is scheduled to open in September 2026 and is intended to bring more people into the town centre to support local shops and businesses.

The wider programme focuses on getting the best use from land that is no longer needed for schools. That includes family housing and spaces for community groups. Permission for 470 homes on the former Bramcote School playing fields (off Coventry Lane, Bramcote) was granted in 2023; enabling works and site preparation have since proceeded, with housebuilding scheduled across 2026–2027 to help address local housing need.

Arc Partnership is designing the community‑facing elements of the sites, using the recent Beeston Library regeneration as a design reference. The councils have opened a public consultation so residents can help shape the final plans — part of a stated move away from predominantly student‑focused development toward more permanent, community‑focused uses.
