On February 17, 2026, the Office of the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner launched a new partnership in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, to help vulnerable children stay away from crime. This scheme, known as the Young Futures Programme, brings together police, local councils, and youth workers to provide early support for at-risk young people.

The project uses groups called Prevention Panels to spot early signs that a young person might need help, such as missing school often or having items they cannot explain. These panels include staff from the police, Broxtowe Borough Council, and local health and education services.

Young people in the area will be offered one-to-one mentoring and practical help to improve their mental health and wellbeing. This includes activities such as swimming lessons and gym memberships, as well as specialist counselling from a youth charity called Base 51.

Other organisations involved in the work include Remedi and Switch Up, which both provide mentoring and sports activities. This new approach builds on previous work in Beeston town centre to tackle issues like bike theft and shoplifting.
