People in Beeston, Nottinghamshire, are facing long travel delays today, January 30, 2026, as utility asset works on Queens Road by National Grid Telecoms move toward the Dovecote Lane junction. The contractor has installed temporary multi-way traffic signals and some bus stops have been suspended, contributing to heavy congestion in the area.
Trent Barton has warned passengers that the Skylink Nottingham service may see delays of up to 30 minutes. The operator says Indigo journeys are taking around 15 minutes longer than usual as buses are diverted through Chilwell and central Beeston.
Trent Barton’s travel alerts also state that the Dovecote Lane inbound and outbound stops have been suspended and temporary replacement stops have been set up nearby. (Bus stop technical data and stop IDs for the location are listed on BusTimes.org.)
The works are being coordinated by Via East Midlands on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council and follow an earlier phase of the project that began on January 5, 2026; a first phase was due to finish on January 29 before the works moved toward the Dovecote Lane junction on January 30. The disruption is compounded by concurrent National Highways works on the A52 (QMC and Priory Island), which have increased traffic pressure on local alternative routes.
Local residents may recall a 2024–25 Nottinghamshire County Council consultation on Dovecote Lane related to active travel and through-traffic concerns. Trent Barton is advising drivers and bus users to allow extra time for journeys while the temporary traffic signals remain in place.
