Blackpool in Lancashire is preparing for a sudden shift to wet and windy weather starting on Tuesday 24 March 2026. This change marks the end of a mild period for the town and is expected to bring heavy rain and cold winds that could disrupt travel and outdoor activities.

The Met Office predicts heavy rain starting early Tuesday morning, with a 90 per cent chance of downpours by 6am. Strong winds with gusts reaching 41mph will make the 11°C daytime temperature feel more like 7°C for residents and commuters.

Wednesday 25 March 2026 is forecast to be the most severe day of the week, with wind gusts peaking at 46mph. While actual temperatures will hover around 8°C, the wind chill will make it feel as cold as -1°C, and the sea is expected to produce large waves of up to 2.5 metres that could be hazardous to anyone near the water.

This move to colder weather follows an unusually warm and sunny week in Blackpool, where temperatures reached 16°C on 18 March 2026. The return to unsettled spring conditions is likely to affect local travel and outdoor plans as the community prepares for the busy Easter period.
