Residents in Blackpool can explore the history of Stanley Park during a public talk on 21 March 2026. The session will take place at the park visitor centre in Lancashire to celebrate the start of the site’s 100th anniversary year.

Local historian and heritage guide Bev Carroll will host the event from 2pm to 4pm. She will explain why the park was created in the 1920s and provide details about how its most famous landmarks were built.

The Friends of Stanley Park is organising the talk as part of a series of special presentations. The group is also asking visitors to bring along any old photos or personal stories they have of the park to help record its history for the community.

These events lead up to a large community celebration planned for 2 October and 3 October 2026. This weekend will mark the official 100th birthday of the green space.

The volunteer group recently gave £50,000 to help with park repairs and upkeep during the anniversary year. This contribution has been combined with funding from Blackpool Council to create a £500,000 maintenance budget for the park.
