Police have issued a warning to residents in the Mereside area of Blackpool, Lancashire, after a man climbed onto a house roof without permission. On 25 February 2026, an individual claimed to be a tradesman and began cleaning the drains of a property before trying to charge the homeowner for the work.

The alert was shared by PCSO Phillip Parry (Collar No. 7124) of the Blackpool South Neighbourhood Policing Team through the Stay In The Know platform. According to Lancashire Constabulary, the man gained access to the roof under the guise of performing repairs that were never actually requested by the resident.

This incident comes amid other recent reports of crime in the local area, including a burglary on Pennine Grove reported on 26 February and vehicle crimes on Antigua Drive. In response to these events, officers have confirmed they will increase local patrols over the coming weeks to reassure the community and prevent further anti-social behaviour.

Residents are being urged to never allow unexpected callers access to their property and to always check for official identification. Any suspicious activity should be reported to the police by calling 101 or by contacting the Blackpool Council Trading Standards team on 01253 478375.
