Bloxwich is one of five wards receiving increased patrols during Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, as Walsall Council and West Midlands Police step up enforcement across the borough until 5 July. High-visibility joint patrols involving Community Protection Enforcement Officers will visit town centres, parks and known hotspots in St Matthew’s, Bloxwich, Blakenall, Leamore and Willenhall.
More than 25 activities are scheduled across the week, including youth engagement sessions, estate walkabouts with housing partners whg and Green Square Accord, targeted patrols, trading standards work and a retail crime operation in Walsall town centre. Councillor Ian Benton, Portfolio Holder for Street Scene and Enforcement, said: “Through joint patrols, engagement events and enforcement activity, we want residents to know that reports of anti-social behaviour are taken seriously and that partners are committed to making communities safer.”
The additional patrols build on months of sustained enforcement. Since the Safer Streets initiative began, the council’s seven Community Protection Enforcement Officers have been carrying out daily patrols in Walsall and Willenhall town centres, engaging with more than 500 residents and 50 businesses. A Public Space Protection Order introduced in 2023 to tackle street drinking and anti-social activities has already led to seven people being banned from Walsall town centre, with the most recent prohibition enforced on 7 October last year.
Residents who want to report anti-social behaviour can contact the council by emailing [email protected] or calling 01922 653060. Reports can also be made to West Midlands Police online, by calling 101 for non-emergencies, or 999 in an emergency.
