The City, Sandwell & Walsall Breast Screening Service has moved its mobile clinic from Bloxwich, West Midlands, to a new location in Small Heath to continue its work checking for early signs of cancer. The service uses mobile vans to make it easier for people to get checked closer to where they live or shop.

The screening unit was previously based at the Bloxwich Medical Practice on Field Road from August 2025 until February 2026. It has now relocated to the Asda superstore car park on Coventry Road.

Women aged between 50 and 71 who are registered with a local doctor should look out for an invitation letter in the post. The service, which is run by the Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust, offers these free health checks every three years.

Recent figures from NHS England show that just over 60 per cent of eligible women in Birmingham are currently using the service. This is lower than the national target of 70 per cent, even though the programme helped find more than 3,500 cancers across the Midlands in the year ending March 2025.

Anyone with questions about the move or their screening appointment can contact the City, Sandwell & Walsall Breast Screening Service on 0121 507 4967 (Option 1). The office is open from Monday to Friday, between 8am and 5pm.
