Frontline workers, volunteers, and community groups across Walsall are being offered free online training to help them discuss healthy eating and nutrition with local residents. The programme, which is run in partnership between Walsall Council Public Health and Food for Life, aims to provide staff with the tools to offer practical advice on food choices and budget-friendly nutrition.

The training sessions are available throughout May 2026 and are designed for those in roles where they regularly speak with residents about health, wellbeing, or financial resilience. Participants will learn about the Eatwell Guide and techniques for having short, meaningful conversations about food. These sessions are intended to support the goals of the Feeding Walsall’s Future: Walsall’s Food Plan 2025–2030, a five-year strategy approved by the council last year to improve the local food system.

There are five live online sessions available for those interested in attending:

  • Wednesday 13 May, 12.30pm – 3pm
  • Friday 15 May, 9.30am – 12pm
  • Monday 18 May, 6.30pm – 9pm
  • Wednesday 20 May, 12.30pm – 3pm
  • Thursday 21 May, 9.30am – 12pm

Advance registration is required to take part in the training. Interested individuals can sign up online at web.foodforlife.org.uk. Any questions regarding the sessions can be sent via email to [email protected].
