Residents in Bloxwich, West Midlands, are being told to prepare for sleet showers and near-freezing conditions from the evening of 3 February 2026. Forecasters say wind chill will make it feel much colder than the air temperature — the Met Office forecast for Bloxwich shows overnight ‘feels like’ temperatures down to around −3°C even though air temperatures are expected to remain close to 1–2°C.

Sleet is expected on Tuesday evening and may leave road surfaces wet overnight. With air temperatures close to freezing and a significant wind chill, that raises the risk of icy patches on untreated surfaces for the Wednesday morning commute.

Walsall Council says its winter service will prioritise gritting main routes and key corridors linking into the M6, and teams will time treatments to avoid salt being washed away by rain or sleet before the coldest conditions. Drivers should remain cautious on treated and untreated surfaces, particularly on busy routes such as the A34 and other primary roads.

Motorists heading towards the M6 are advised to check National Highways travel updates before they set off. Local council and community winter-support programmes (for example, Walsall’s ‘Warm Walsall’ initiative) are also encouraging people to check on vulnerable neighbours who may need help with heating.

Train passengers using Bloxwich and Bloxwich North stations should check their journeys before travelling. Train operators and railway staff are monitoring tracks and overhead lines overnight to reduce the risk that ice will cause delays to local services on Wednesday morning.
