Bolton, Greater Manchester, is aiming to host the 2035 Ryder Cup at Hulton Park after receiving official backing from regional leaders on 18 March 2026.
The project includes building a new professional-level golf course and around 1,000 houses, which is expected to bring 350,000 visitors to the town. This development is intended to create new jobs and provide a long-term boost to the local economy and sporting reputation.
A £70 million investment has been pledged by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority to fund a new Park Avenue link road and support local improvements. This funding is part of a wider plan to improve road networks and connectivity across the area.
According to Bolton Council, the bid is being submitted alongside developer Peel Land. The project aims to transform the historic estate into a permanent venue capable of hosting one of the world’s biggest sporting events.
Although previous plans to bid for the 2026 and 2031 tournaments did not result in official entries, regional leaders believe this current proposal will deliver significant benefits for the community.
