A free workshop on Disclosure and Barring Service checks comes to The Bolton Hub on Bold Street next week, aimed squarely at local groups that recruit and manage volunteers. The session, part of the Volunteer Development Network run by Bolton Community and Voluntary Services, runs on Thursday 9 July 2026 from 10am to noon.

Rebecca Robinson, Regional Outreach Adviser from the Disclosure and Barring Service, leads the overview, walking attendees through what to expect and how to navigate the checks. The event is free but requires advance registration, with sign-up details and enquiries directed to [email protected] before the day.

The Hub, barely 150 metres from Bolton Interchange on Bold Street, acts as a base for eight other organisations and a hate crime reporting centre. Bolton CVS supports over 600 member groups out of roughly 1,762 voluntary, community and social enterprise bodies in the borough, providing training, funding advice and volunteering connections across the town.
