Firefighters from the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service were called to a major fire at an industrial estate in Bolton, Greater Manchester, on Friday 13 March 2026. The emergency call was made at around 2:30 AM after a large pile of scrap metal was found heavily on fire.
Six fire engines, an aerial appliance, and a high-volume pump were sent to the Raikes Clough Lane site to bring the flames under control. Teams worked through the night to stop the fire from spreading, and officials confirmed that no injuries were reported during the incident.
People living in the nearby area were told to keep their doors and windows closed because of the large amount of smoke coming from the site. Greater Manchester Police and Bolton Council helped at the scene to keep the public safe and manage access to the industrial estate.
The Environment Agency was also involved to monitor any impact on the surroundings while crews worked to put out the blaze. Firefighters stayed at the scene after the main fire was out to monitor the scrap metal and make sure the area remained safe.
