Residents across Bolton in Greater Manchester should prepare for travel delays as several roads are set to close for essential maintenance and utility work starting in mid March 2026. According to Bolton Council, these closures are necessary for electricity and sewer upgrades across different parts of the borough.
One of the longest disruptions will take place on Princess Street and Back Mawdsley Street. This route is scheduled to close on 16 March 2026 and will remain shut until August 2026 while electricity work is carried out.
In Farnworth, Queen Street will also see closures for electricity repairs. Drivers will not be able to use the road from 30 March 2026 until 07 April 2026.
Maintenance is also planned for Southfield Drive in Westhoughton, which will close on 03 April 2026 for sewer work. Local authorities are advising people to plan their journeys in advance and allow extra time to travel through these areas while the work is being finished.
