Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witnesses after a Range Rover crashed into a residential property in Stoneclough, Bolton, during the early hours of Saturday 28 March 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 4:50am, resulting in significant structural damage to the home and a neighbouring property, though no injuries were reported to the occupants.

The vehicle reportedly struck a bus stop before passing through iron railings and the home’s front door, eventually coming to rest inside the hallway. The homeowner, 72-year-old Tony Walters, was asleep when the crash occurred and described the impact as sounding like a bomb going off. Both Mr Walters and his son, who was also in the house at the time, were unhurt in the incident.

Emergency services, including the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service, attended the scene alongside local police. A section of Market Street was cordoned off for the remainder of the day to allow for investigation and debris removal, with Bolton Council highway maintenance teams arriving later to clear the area and remove a damaged bus stop sign.

The Greater Manchester Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit is now leading the enquiry. Officers are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who possesses CCTV, dashcam, or mobile phone footage to come forward to assist with the investigation.

Information can be reported to the police by calling 0161 856 4741, quoting log 547 of 28/03/2026. Alternatively, members of the public can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
