Families in Bootle, Merseyside, can access a range of free and low-cost activities this February half-term as Sefton Council launches its 2026 holiday programme. The local library will host several events from Monday, February 16, to Friday, February 20, to help parents and carers find affordable entertainment close to home.
The week includes a sensory play session called Squish Creative Play, which is run by the artist-led collective At The Library. This event is designed for children aged between 12 months and 3 years and will take place at Bootle Library on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm.
Other activities include the Chamomile Circle group, which meets on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. According to the At The Library schedule, the library will also host an International Shared Reading session at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
Residents are encouraged to book their places early using the online LibCal platform, as many popular sessions require registration. These local activities are intended to reduce the need for travel during the school break while providing creative spaces for children and adults.
The half-term events begin just as a yellow weather warning for ice and snow from the Met Office is set to end on Sunday, February 15, 2026. While many activities are focused locally, a larger immersive art event called Lightport, featuring the “Chase the Rainbow” installation, is also launching in nearby Southport this weekend.
