Bootle Football Club has confirmed that goalkeeper Tony Thompson is leaving the team after two and a half seasons with the Merseyside club.
The 31-year-old Liverpool native made 119 appearances for Bootle FC, known to fans as The Bucks. Since joining the club in October 2023, he became a well-regarded figure in the dressing room and served as a key member of the squad that competes in the Northern Premier League Division One West.
The club officially announced the departure on their website, thanking Thompson for his service. Management highlighted his instrumental role during the 2023/24 season, which saw the club reach the play-offs before falling to Prescot Cables in the semi-final on 30 April 2024.
The Bucks, currently managed by Alan Morgan, expressed their gratitude for Thompson’s commitment to the club. Leadership at the organisation, including Chairman Joe Doran, noted that the goalkeeper was a fantastic servant to the team and will remain welcome at the club in the future.
