A mobile health service is returning to Bootle to provide residents with free, walk-in medical support and screenings throughout the spring and early summer. The Living Well Bus, managed by the Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, will make several stops across the area starting 25 April 2026 to help bridge local gaps in healthcare access.

The service offers a range of medical checks including blood pressure, pulse, cholesterol, blood glucose, and body mass index readings. Residents can also access Covid boosters, mental wellbeing support with referrals to talking therapies, and specific sessions for cervical screening. All services are available on a drop-in basis from 10.30am to 4pm, and no appointment is required.

The bus will visit the following locations in Bootle:

  • 25 April: Harrow Drive Playing Field
  • 6 May: Asda Bootle, 81 Strand Road
  • 19 May: Riverside’s Sandfield/Clayfield
  • 12 June: Asda Bootle, 81 Strand Road (Cervical screening session)
  • 16 June: Asda Bootle, 81 Strand Road

According to Sefton Council, this initiative is part of an ongoing effort to reach underserved communities in the borough. Data shows that Bootle faces significant challenges regarding social mobility and health inequality, with residents in the southern part of the borough experiencing a shorter life expectancy on average than those in the north.

All health checks performed on the bus are recorded and shared with a patient’s own doctor to ensure that any follow-up care is coordinated. The service, which was highly commended at the 2023 national healthcare partnership awards, has provided tens of thousands of screenings and vaccinations across the region since it launched in 2022.
