Merseyside Police have renewed an appeal for witnesses and information following a fatal collision in Fazakerley that resulted in the death of 81-year-old Margaret Perry on 5 December 2025.

Mrs Perry was walking home from local shops at approximately 4:15pm when she was struck by a dark-coloured vehicle on Longmoor Lane, near the junction of Third Avenue. The driver of the car failed to stop at the scene.

Detective Sergeant Simon Duffy, from the force’s Matrix Serious Collision Investigation Unit, is leading the ongoing inquiry. He is specifically urging anyone who was driving through the area, or whose car was parked nearby at the time of the incident, to check their dashcam footage for anything that could assist the investigation.

Police are also asking residents who may have relevant CCTV or doorbell recordings to come forward. A 69-year-old man from Fazakerley was arrested on 8 December 2025 on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop. He remains under investigation as of April 2026.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit directly at 0151 777 5747 or by email at [email protected].
