Police Search for Owner After Fatal Dog Attack in Bootle

Merseyside Police are searching for a dog owner after a fatal attack on Sidney Road in Bootle, Merseyside, left one pet dead and another seriously injured on February 17, 2026. A suspected XL Bully reportedly attacked two Jack Russell dogs at approximately 4:30 PM while they were out for a walk with their owner.

Both Jack Russells were taken to a local vets for emergency treatment following the incident. One dog died from the injuries it received during the attack, and the second dog is currently in a serious condition.

The owner of the suspected XL Bully fled the scene with the animal immediately after the attack took place. Officers are now looking for the individual and the dog as part of an ongoing investigation into the matter.
