Bootle is set to swelter through its third heatwave of 2026 as a prolonged spell of hot and dry weather settles over the region. The Met Office confirmed the heatwave in a forecast published on 6 July, noting that an area of high pressure will bring extensive sunshine and light winds, pushing temperatures steadily upward.

The Bootle-specific outlook shows the mercury climbing from 22°C on Tuesday 7 July to a peak of 30°C on Friday 10 July, feeling closer to 31°C. Rain is unlikely to offer any relief, with probabilities stuck below 5% for most of the week and only a 10% chance of a shower in the evening or early morning on Friday and Saturday. Met Office Deputy Chief Forecaster Steven Keates said the UK is entering its third heatwave of the year, but stressed it will not match the intensity of earlier events. “Unlike the May and June heatwaves, we are not expecting this heatwave to be record-breaking,” he said.

Conditions this time around are forecast to be less humid than June’s heatwave, with lower peak temperatures and fewer exceptionally warm nights. Very high pollen levels are also expected from Thursday 9 July, and UV levels will reach high at level 7. The Met Office has issued beach safety advice alongside the forecast, urging caution for those heading to the coast to cool off.
