BCP Council has been officially ranked among the best social housing providers in England after receiving a top-tier rating for its housing services across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

The BCP Council housing service, known as BCP Homes, was awarded a C1 grade by the Regulator of Social Housing. This rating places the council in an elite group of only seven local authorities in England to achieve the highest possible standard for repairs, safety, and tenant engagement across its 9,600 rented homes.

The council currently maintains a 94 per cent success rate for completing emergency repairs on time. For non-emergency maintenance, the service finishes 82 per cent of jobs within the set timeframe, reflecting a proactive approach to property management and tenant safety.

This local performance follows a report released on February 9, 2026, by the Housing, Communities and Local Government Committee which found that social housing conditions across England have barely improved since the pandemic. In contrast, residents like Roger Smithers, who is the Chair of the Residents Committee and has been a tenant for nearly 50 years, said the local service is now well organised and ensures that people feel heard when they speak up.
