The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for heavy rain across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole on Monday, February 9, 2026, which could lead to surface water flooding and travel disruption. The warning is in force from midday (12:00) until 11:59pm, following a period of very wet weather that has left ground widely saturated and less able to absorb further rain.

Local authorities say the rain may cause difficult driving conditions, including spray and standing water on major routes such as the A31 and A35. Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council says its highways teams are on high alert to manage blocked drains and surface water during the warning period.

Public-transport users are also being advised to prepare for slower journeys. South Western Railway (SWR) warns that heavy rain and flooding can cause signalling problems and track flooding that disrupt services; passengers should check SWR’s JourneyCheck for live updates, particularly on routes between Bournemouth and London Waterloo.

The Environment Agency is monitoring river levels on the Lower Stour and tidal conditions at Christchurch Harbour via the gov.uk ‘Check for flooding’ service. There is a small risk that low-lying properties — including park homes at Iford Bridge Home Park — could experience flooding if intense rainfall coincides with high river or tidal levels.
