Run Bournemouth has announced its event programme for the weekend of 10th–11th October 2026 in Bournemouth, Dorset. The weekend features the Supernova 5K — a dusk 5K that encourages fluorescent and LED kit — alongside a series of junior races to promote family participation.

On Saturday 10 October 2026 the Supernova 5K is scheduled to start at 19:00, heading along Bournemouth Promenade and finishing near the Run Bournemouth hub in the Lower Gardens. Earlier that afternoon there are junior events routed around the Pier Approach and promenade: the Kids’ Kilometre (ages 3–6, entrants must be accompanied by an adult), the Junior 1.5K (ages 6–8) and the Junior 2K (ages 9–12).

The weekend continues on Sunday 11 October 2026 with the Supersonic 10K (scheduled for 09:00) and the Bournemouth Half Marathon (scheduled for 11:00). The festival is organised by GSi Events Ltd in partnership with Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council; the council supports such events as part of wider efforts to boost visitor numbers and local economic activity.

Organisers have confirmed the full 26.2-mile marathon remains discontinued — the full marathon was scrapped in 2020 after the council said it could not guarantee a consistent route — and the festival now focuses on shorter, community-friendly distances. The event is expected to attract around 10,000 participants and supports fundraising for national and local charities (charity partners and affiliate charities have included organisations such as Macmillan and the British Heart Foundation, which use charity places to raise donations).

Residents should expect road closures and traffic restrictions affecting the seafront, promenade, Pier Approach and Lower Gardens at various times across the weekend; organisers and BCP Council publish full road-closure schedules and transport guidance ahead of the event.

Entries and full event information are available from the Run Bournemouth website.
