Two brothers from Bournemouth, Dorset, have been charged with planning to sell cannabis following a police investigation into local drug activity. Zakaria El-Basir, 22, and Sami El-Basir, 20, were charged with conspiracy to supply the drug and appeared at court on February 18, 2026.

The charges follow a series of raids in January 2026 that resulted in nine arrests across the area. During these searches, officers seized more than £100,000 in cash and other expensive items as part of an effort by Dorset Police to stop illegal drug networks.

Zakaria El-Basir, who lives on Post Office Road, is also facing a charge for having pepper spray, which is classed as a dangerous item. The investigation was supported by the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit, which works with local officers to remove suspected drug suppliers from community streets.

Following a hearing at Poole Magistrates’ Court, Zakaria El-Basir was kept in custody and will appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on March 19, 2026. Sami El-Basir, of Westcliffe Gardens, is waiting for a further hearing to decide if he can be released on bail until the case continues.
