On February 18, 2026, Surrey Heath Borough Council approved a new budget and set council tax levels for the 2026/27 year to fund local services and community projects in Camberley, Surrey. The decision determines how much households and businesses will pay for services like waste collection, planning, and the upkeep of local parks.
Households in a Band D property will see the borough council’s portion of their bill go up by £7.65 per year, which is an increase of 2.99 per cent. While the total yearly bill will rise to £2,553.93 once police and county costs are added, the borough council only keeps 10 per cent of the total tax collected to pay for its specific services.
The council identified nearly £3 million in savings to keep its finances stable before it is replaced by the new West Surrey Council on April 1, 2027. According to council leader Shaun Macdonald, these savings represent about 19 per cent of the direct cost of running local services and help ensure the council can meet its obligations until the transition.
The new budget includes money for a new skate park, padel courts, and repairs to playgrounds such as the one at Avenue Sucy. Residents will also continue to have free parking at Frimley Lodge Park and Lightwater Country Park, even though the council plans to spend money on resurfacing those car parks.
