Recorded crime in Camberley, Surrey, fell to 79 incidents in January 2026, representing a notable drop from the 97 offences reported the previous month. The data, which covers the town centre and St Pauls area, was published on 28 February 2026.

According to the latest figures from Police.uk, the reduction follows the typically busier Christmas shopping and nightlife season in December. Local officers remain focused on tackling shoplifting and any violence directed at shop workers in the town centre as part of their ongoing community safety work.

Surrey Police previously implemented a strategy that led to a four-fold increase in shoplifting charges across the county in the year leading up to 2025. This work includes targeted efforts to make local shopping areas safer for both staff and residents by addressing repeat offenders.

Extra patrols have also been used to manage anti-social behaviour through a hotspot approach funded by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Surrey. These extra patrols were launched in 2025 to increase police presence in fifteen target areas, including busy town centres, to reduce serious violence.
