Residents and community groups in Camberley, Surrey, can now apply for funding to improve local parks and facilities through the CIL-funded Local Community Improvement Fund (LCIF) run by Surrey Heath Borough Council. The Surrey Heath Borough Council opened the application window on 12 January 2026 to help pay for physical projects that benefit the neighbourhood.

The funding for these improvements comes from Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) contributions paid by developers, not from day-to-day council budgets. This ring‑fenced pot is designed to help areas handle the impact of new buildings by upgrading community hubs, cycle paths, and green spaces.

Local charities, community groups, and parish councils have until 12:00 PM on 16 February 2026 to submit their ideas. Last year, the council provided over £255,000 to various schemes, including a Changing Places toilet facility in Camberley town centre (approximately £194,750 awarded in 2025) and cherry blossom tree planting in Heatherside.

Applicants must show that their projects are ready to start, which includes having any necessary planning permission in place before funding is finalised and providing verifiable cost estimates. Most bids require at least three competitive quotes to demonstrate value for money. It is important to note that funding is typically paid retrospectively on receipt of verifiable invoices, so groups may need to cover initial costs themselves or seek short-term finance.

People interested in applying can find the application form and guidance on the council’s dedicated LCIF page: Apply for the Local Community Improvement Fund, and see the council news announcements for related updates. Successful projects are typically expected to be delivered within the following financial year once the funding is approved.
