The Met Office issued a yellow ice warning for Camberley, Surrey, on February 13, 2026, following a period of rain and sleet. Temperatures dropped below freezing overnight, creating a risk of ice forming on roads and pavements that had not been treated.
The freezing conditions arrived on the final day of classes before the Spring Half Term break for local schools, according to Surrey County Council. A band of wet weather moved south across the area, leaving damp surfaces that turned to ice as the skies cleared.
To help keep the community moving, Surrey County Council Highways confirmed that gritting trucks were out treating all main priority roads starting on Thursday evening and again on Friday. Officials advised residents to take extra care on smaller side streets and walkways where ice was still likely to form.
Travel was further slowed by heavy traffic and accidents on the M3 motorway near Junction 4. These incidents led to congestion on the A30 and other local roads through the town as drivers tried to find different ways to reach their destinations.
