Residents on Canvey Island, Essex, are being asked to help spread the word about a local charity providing health and wellbeing support after a community appeal for the Yellow Door project gained momentum on February 15, 2026.

Officially known as the Canvey Island Youth Project, the independent charity offers counselling, mentoring, and support for people aged 11 to 25. The organisation operates from a dedicated hub on Poplar Road that is easily identified by its bright yellow front door.

The group also works with local churches to run the Canvey Food Bank, which provides food to residents living in poverty. The project has earned significant trust over nearly three decades and even hosted Princess Anne in 2021 to discuss its impact on the community.

According to the Essex Violence and Vulnerability Unit, the project has used nearly 22,000 pounds in grants to fund its outreach work with at-risk youth. Residents can now support the volunteer-run service by sharing updates on social media or talking about the project at events like the local Classic Car Show.
