Award-winning local author Debz Hobbs-Wyatt begins a year-long series of free monthly talks at Canvey Library on Tuesday 28 July, offering residents a direct line to the writer’s creative process and publishing journey.
The sessions, which run from 3pm to 5pm on the last Tuesday of every month through to April 2027, need no booking. Attendees can expect Hobbs-Wyatt to discuss her inspirations and share writing tips, followed by an open question-and-answer slot.
The talks build on the author’s deep roots on the island. She returned to Essex in 2014 after Parthian Books published her debut novel While No One Was Watching the previous year, and quickly founded Canvey Writers, a community group that still meets regularly and will mark its tenth anniversary in 2025. Her most recent novel, If Crows Could Talk, came out in October 2024 and was launched at St Nicholas Church.
The full list of dates includes 25 August, 29 September, 27 October, 24 November, 29 December, 26 January, 23 February, 30 March, and 27 April. Canvey Library on High Street is open Monday to Thursday from 9am to 5.30pm.
