Residents of Canvey Island in Essex can look forward to a warm and sunny start to the bank holiday weekend, according to the Met Office. While the weekend will begin with unseasonably high temperatures, conditions are expected to become unsettled by Sunday.

Friday 1 May is forecast to be the warmest day, with temperatures reaching between 22°C and 23°C. This is approximately 6°C higher than the long-term May average of 16.59°C recorded at the nearby Shoeburyness climate station. Saturday 2 May will remain dry and pleasant with sunny intervals and a high of 21°C, providing an ideal window for outdoor plans.

Pollen levels are expected to be high throughout both Friday and Saturday, which may affect those with seasonal allergies. As the weather shifts on Sunday 3 May, temperatures will drop to around 18°C, and pollen levels will be low, residents should prepare for light rain that is likely to continue through the afternoon.

There are currently no flood warnings or alerts in effect for the area. The Environment Agency reports that the flood risk for Canvey Island remains very low over the next five days. The island, which is managed for flood risk under the guidance of the Castle Point Borough Council, is protected by a 75 million pound flood defence scheme completed by the Environment Agency.
