The mobile library service in Carlton, Nottinghamshire, will be out of action today and next Monday. Inspire: Culture, Learning and Libraries has confirmed that Mobile Library North will not be running on Friday 27 March and Monday 30 March 2026.

The service break affects people who use the library stops along Routes 9 and 10. These mobile libraries are often used by rural residents and people with mobility issues to borrow books, large print stories, and audiobooks.

While the van is off the road, residents are being encouraged to visit a permanent library building. The Carlton Hill Library at 341 Carlton Hill is the closest option for many and offers full access for wheelchair users.

According to the official service disruptions list, the cancellation is part of a planned break. This comes as other library vans in the East and South of the county have also been taken off the road for urgent maintenance work this week.

Local readers should also prepare for the upcoming Easter Bank Holiday weekend. All library buildings and the Ask Inspire phone service will be closed on Friday 3 April, Sunday 5 April, and Monday 6 April 2026.
