Carlton Residents Asked to Help Fill Local Food Bank Shelves

Residents in Carlton, Nottinghamshire, are being asked to donate essential food and toiletries following an urgent appeal from the local food bank on February 4, 2026. Organisers at East & West Nottingham Foodbank say their stock levels have dropped to worrying lows, making it difficult to provide full parcels to those in need.

The community hub, managed by Hope Nottingham, is currently short of several basic items. Volunteers say they urgently need tinned meat and tinned vegetables, and are seeking toiletries such as deodorant, toothpaste and hair/body wash. The foodbank’s guidance notes that pasta is usually plentiful at the hub but will still be accepted if donated.

Donations can be dropped off directly at the Carlton Community Hub (the former Carlton Methodist Church) — Main St, Carlton NG4 1EE — during the hub’s opening hours, or placed in permanent supermarket collection points; the Carlton hub works in partnership with the local Tesco. According to data from the Trussell Trust, many food banks face a struggle at this time of year as holiday donations drop off while heating bills and other winter costs remain high for local families.

Organisers warn that if stock levels do not improve quickly, they may have to reduce the size of the emergency parcels they give out to households or prioritise the most extreme cases. Local residents who cannot donate items can also provide financial support through the charity’s website to help volunteers buy fresh supplies for people in crisis.
