Gary ‘Boatsy’ Clarke is moving on from his role as Marketing and Commercial Manager at Carlton Town FC after five years to become the new chairman of Dunkirk FC.

Clarke first joined the club at the start of the 2021-2022 season, stepping into the vacancy created following the death of Brian Dennett during the Covid pandemic. Over his tenure with the Millers, he worked closely with club leadership, including Director of Football Tommy Brookbanks, who identified Clarke as a primary reason for his own continued commitment to the club.

Carlton Town chairman Mick Garton noted that the opportunity at Dunkirk FC, a Nottingham-based club that competes in the United Counties League Division One, was one Clarke found impossible to turn down. Garton highlighted that the club is situated close to Clarke’s home and offers him the chance to work alongside Dunkirk vice chairman Shaun Brittain, whom he has known since their school days.

To mark his departure, a farewell event is taking place for Clarke at the Carlton Town clubhouse on Saturday 30 May 2026. The gathering begins at 3pm, and the club has invited all supporters and friends to attend and offer their best wishes.

Dunkirk FC, known as ‘The Boatmen’, was founded in 1946 and currently plays at Step 6 of the non-league football pyramid.
