Residents in Carlton, Nottinghamshire, are being asked to use the internet to report missed bins as Gedling Borough Council deals with broken phone lines. The council confirmed on 3 March 2026 that it only has a small number of phone lines available due to technical problems.

People who need to book waste services or report a collection that did not happen may face delays if they try to call the council. To help, officials are encouraging residents to use the missed bin reporting page instead of waiting on the phone.

The council also reported that it could not collect trade food waste today, 3 March 2026, and plans to return for these bins as soon as possible. Businesses have been required to separate their food waste for collection since recycling rules started on 31 March 2025.

For any residential missed bins, the council requires a report to be made within three working days of the collection date so they can investigate. Environmental services are overseen by Councillor Marje Paling, and the team aims to return for valid missed collections within seven working days.
